Mi-26T2
Heavy transport helicopter

Mission and primary tasks

The Mi-26T/Mi-26T2 heavy transport helicopter is designed to transport self-propelled (wheeled and tracked) and non-self-propelled equipment, bulky cargo both in the cargo cabin and externally, as well as carry personnel and evacuate the sick and the wounded.

The helicopter can be used in various versions: transport, troop-carrying, tanker, fire-fighting, and ambulance.

The Mi-26T2 is an upgraded version of the Mi-26T equipped with more advanced avionics equipment.

Airborne equipment

The helicopter’s airborne equipment provides safe flight control both along air routes and in off-the-airway regulated and unregulated airspace, day and night, and in adverse weather conditions.

The helicopter can carry: TV/thermal imaging equipment, weather radar, night vision goggles, and a satellite navigation system’s receiver.

Main advantages

  • operability in any geographical and climatic conditions, day and night, and in adverse weather conditions;
  • versatility;
  • high hovering accuracy, including during transport and fire-fighting operations;
  • capability to land on unprepared sites at night and in limited adverse weather conditions;
  • efficient loading/unloading of paratroopers and cargo through the presence of three doors along the sides of the helicopter and a powered ramp;
  • high-accuracy site approach through the use of a satellite navigation system;
  • capability to simultaneously refuel both helicopters (aircraft) and armored (automotive) vehicles on the ground (tanker version).
