Surprise, fire storm and vigor


The BMD-4M AAV is designed to equip airborne units in order to conduct offensive and defensive operations together with other types of armoured weapons and equipment of the Airborne Forces.


The BMD-4M is an airborne amphibious tracked combat vehicle which can be air-landed or air-dropped even with the crew inside the vehicle.

The armament includes:
2A70 100 mm gun-missile launcher;
2A72 30 mm automatic gun;
PKTM 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun.

The automated digital round-the-clock jamming-resistant fire control system provides the following:
effective fire delivery day and night, amid active optical interference and usage of flares;
automatic target tracking;
indirect fire capability;
equal capabilities for the commander and gunner in terms of target reconnaissance and fire delivery from halts and on the move at speeds of up to 30 km/h;
mirror backup of the firing process for the commander, day and night, using all weapon types except for the guided missile.

The powerpack, transmission and running gear of the BMD-4M are unified with those of the BMP-3 and feature:
diesel engine of 500 h.p.;
hydromechanical, four-speed transmission;
independent, individual, hydropneumatic suspension with adjustable road clearance.
