Cooperation with Brazil

The president of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin paid a State visit to Brazil on November 21, 2004 – which became the first visit at such a level in the history of bilateral relations of the countries.

The official visit to Russia of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the President of Brazil, on October 18, 2005, significantly contributed to the further strengthening of political and economic partnership between the two countries.

Intergovernmental commissions for trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation (IGC) and the High-level Commission on Cooperation (HLC) are currently working.

The cooperation between Russia and Brazil is actively developing within the framework of the BRICS. Its first summit was held at the Russian side suggestion on June 16, 2009 in Yekaterinburg.

Nowadays military-technical cooperation in the sphere of  Air Forces and Air Defence between Russia and Brazil has received the most dynamic development. The present stage of cooperation is carried out within the framework of the intergovernmental Memorandum on Cooperation in the Field of Military Technologies adopted on April 9, 2002 in Moscow and intergovernmental Agreement on cooperation in the aerospace, nuclear and defence industries sighed on November 26, 2008, during a State visit of President Dmitry Medvedev to Brazil.

Rosoboronexport is a regular participant of the International Exhibition of Aircraft and Defence Systems Latin America Aerospace and Defence (LAAD), which takes place every 2 years in the capital of Brazil.

There is a representative office of the State Corporation Rostec in Brazil, which ensures the interests of Rosoboronexport.
