Cooperation with Mexico

The Joint Bilateral Commission on Economic, Trade, Scientific, Technical and Maritime affairs between Mexico and Russia has been operating since February 1999.

On June 7, 2004, the first in a hundred years Russian head-of-state visit to Mexico took place. The visit coincide with the G8 summit. The meetings of Vladimir Putin and Mexican President Vincente Fox resulted in a joint statement “The Russian-Mexican Initiative: Towards a New Era of Cooperation”. The statement pledges to increase military-technical cooperation between the two countries. In June 2005, Vincente Fox paid a return visit to Russia where he signed agreements on expanding economic cooperation.

Russian helicopters, airplanes and light armoured vehicles are operated in Mexico. Russia has also built a training centre in Mexico. The centre is equipped with a modern simulator, where Mexican pilots are trained.

In 2017, Rosoboronexport took part in the International Exhibition of All Weapons FAMEX-2017 held in Santa Lucia for the first time.

There is a representative office of the State Corporation Rostec in Mexico, which ensures the interests of Rosoboronexport.
