On November 6, 2014, the official visit of Peruvian President Ollanta Humala to Russia took place. On November 19, 2016, President Vladimir Putin in turn visited Peru.
Contacts at the level of the heads of ministries and departments are held on a regular basis. The two countries have established the Joint Commission on the implementation of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in the Field of Prevention and Elimination of natural disasters. There were also certain contacts at the level of military departments: on October 30 – November 29, 1996, the Agreement on Cooperation between the Defense ministries of Russia and Peru was signed in Lima and Moscow (through the exchange of subscription lists).
Military-technical partnership between Russia and Peru has been carried out for more than four decades. Tanks, airplanes, helicopters and other military equipment have been supplied to Peru since 1973. The Intergovernmental Agreement on Military-Technical Cooperation dated April 13, 2004 is still working in full force. Contracts worth more than $ 700 million were signed from 2002 to 2016.
Rosoboronexport is a regular participant of the International Exhibition of Technology in Defense and Prevention of natural disasters SITDEF in Lima, which is held once in 2 years (since 2007).
There is a representative office of the State Corporation Rostec in Peru, which ensures the interests of Rosoboronexport.
