Rosoboronexport at MAKS-2013: talks with partners from 40 countries
26.08.2013 Press release

Rosoboronexport, a subsidiary of the Rostec State Corporation, will hold talks with more than 60 delegations from 40 countries coming to the international aerospace exhibition to be held in Zhukovsky from 27th August to 1st September 2013.

“These days we are launching a large number of new Russian aircraft, airborne munitions and air defence systems to the international arms market. Of special importance is the fact that potential customers will be able to see these items live in Zhukovsky, and even to fly in some aircraft, for example the Yak-130 combat trainer, during familiarisation flights”, comments Alexander Mikheev, deputy director general and head of the delegation of Rosoboronexport to the exhibition. – This is why we consider MAKS-2013 a major event of the year, and the more so because we traditionally take the role of general sponsor of this airshow”.

In Alexander Mikheev’s opinion, foreign delegations will show great interest in such aircraft as the Su-35 fighter, latest modifications of the Su-30MK and MiG-29 family fighters, Yak-130 combat trainer, Ka-52 and Mi-28NE combat helicopters, Mi-17 type military transport helicopters. Their attention may also be attracted by patrol and specialized versions of the Be-200, An-148 and An-140-100 aircraft, new IL-76MD-90A military transport aircraft and Mi-26T2 heavy-lift transport helicopter. Rosoboronexport has prepared individual presentations on these items for foreign delegations.

Moreover, Rosoboronexport can familiarize specialists with Russian military equipment by means of an interactive exhibition system. For the first time this format will be used at the MAKS airshow to present air defence systems such as, in particular, S-400, Antey-2500, Buk-M2E, Tor-M2E, Pantsir-S1, Igla-S.

During the exhibition Rosoboronexport will conduct talks with foreign partners on the implementation of a few joint projects. A large number of prospective programmes, including those for third countries, will be discussed with major European arms manufacturers. A number of agreements are already planned for conclusion during the airshow.

Besides expanding relations with countries of the far abroad, Rosoboronexport devotes great attention to the development of military technical cooperation with the states within the CIS. In this context, promotion of the Russian helicopters and Yak-130 combat trainer aircraft will be one of the key activities during MAKS-2013. For instance, Ukraine and Kazakhstan may become potential customers for the Yak-130. With our Kazakhstan partners we are also studying an option to hire local companies for servicing these aircraft.

As of today, aircraft and air defence systems make up 58 per cent of Rosoboronexport's total order book. Helicopters and air defence systems are expected to appear as the most dynamically developing market segments in 2013 with their export values growing by 20 and 30 per cent respectively. One of the largest agreements concluded by Rosoboronexport in 2013 is the contract with India for the delivery of an additional batch of the Mi-17-5 military transport helicopters (59 helicopters for the Indian Air Force and 8 helicopters for the Ministry of Home Affairs).

Rosoboronexport, part of the Rostec State Corporation, is the sole Russian state intermediary agency responsible for import/export of the full range of defence and dual-use end products, technologies and services. Rosoboronexport is among the leading operators in the world market for arms and military equipment. Rosoboronexport accounts for more than 80% of Russia's arms exports. Geography of Russia’s military-technical cooperation embraces more than 70 countries across the globe. Rosoboronexport collaborates with over 700 defence industry enterprises and agencies throughout the Russian Federation.
