Rosoboronexport to Display Military Airfield Security System at MAKS-2017
19.07.2017 Press release

Rosoboronexport, a member of Rostec, is going to demonstrate Russia’s state-of-the-art system providing security of vital installations, including military airfields, namely the SOKOL security solution, at the International Aviation and Space Show MAKS-2017.

“The unique system already caught attention of our partners from India and we count on it to pique interest on the part of customers from other countries in view of the growing terrorist threat. Promotion of such products paves the way for us to the market of hi-tech special-purpose equipment,” says Deputy Director General Sergey Goreslavsky of Rosoboronexport.

The system utilizes alarm devices complete with fiber-optic cables to provide security of long perimeters and facilities.

It boasts unique technical characteristics and capabilities. Should the boundaries of a protected installation be trespassed, the system automatically detects the place and directs to it video and IR imaging cameras to transmit information to the Duty Post.

The trespasser may even not know that he has been detected, for the elements of the system can be buried into the ground forming up warning lines. Meanwhile, it has no impact whatsoever on the detection accuracy, which is within 5m, while the protected boundary can be as long as 100km.

The linear component of the system does not need to be powered or maintained. This translates into high cost-effectiveness. Moreover, the SOKOL boasts the highest resilience and reliability thanks to the redundancy in all elements and subsystems that will keep the system alive even with a broken cable and a built-in test system that will detect and locate a cable breakdown. The system also incorporates a mechanism of adaptive resistance to external interference, including adverse weather and electromagnetic radiation.

The system integrates more than 10 subsystems, i.e. access control and monitoring, video surveillance, radars, and anti-ram devices. Rosoboronexport is willing to consider the requirements of foreign customers and collaborate with them to introduce desired technical changes to the SOKOL.
