Cooperation with Colombia

Diplomatic relations between both countries stretch back to June 25, 1935.

The relations were then severed in 1948 after disorders in Bogota, and restored back to normal on January 19, 1968.

In recent years countries have been striving to expand their trade and economic cooperation. Meetings at the highest level are held regularly.

The Russian-Colombian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation established in July, 1979 is an important tool for the progressive development of bilateral ties in the spheres of trade and economic.

On March 12, 1996 the Russian Federation and the Republic of Colombia sighed the Agreement on  military-technical cooperation. The start of its implementation is considered the delivery of Russian Mi-17-1V helicopters to Colombia in the same year.

There is a representative office of the State Corporation Rostec in Colombia, which ensures the interests of Rosoboronexport.
