The KAMAZ-53949 has a 4×4 wheel arrangement and features high operational capabilities. A rotating turret with side protective plates or a remotely operated weapon station with various armament suites can be mounted on the vehicle’s rooftop.

The KAMAZ-53949 has high counter-mine and ballistic protection that ensures survival of the crew and troops when an explosive device of 6 kg of TNT is detonated under any wheel and anywhere under the belly of the vehicle.
