JSC ROSOBORONEXPORT (part of Rostec State Corporation) has sent warm greetings to its partners on Africa Day, celebrated annually on May 25. Representatives of the special exporter also attended a gala reception arranged on behalf of the Russian Foreign Minister for members of the African diplomatic corps accredited in Moscow.
"Russia’s friendship with African nations is based on decades of relations of respect and trust. Our country has always provided comprehensive assistance to the people of the continent, helping them fight for independence, justice and freedom, including with reliable and effective weapons," - said Alexander Mikheev, Director General of JSC ROSOBORONEXPORT and Deputy Chairman of the Russian Union of Machine-Builders. "Today ROSOBORONEXPORT has forty-six African countries among its partners, with whom it has signed intergovernmental agreements on military-technical cooperation. The continent accounts for 30% of the company’s book of orders, with contracts for technological cooperation projects worth over $1.7 billion."
ROSOBORONEXPORT interacts with its African partners both at international trade fairs and on a bilateral basis, including through the productive work of Rostec State Corporation’s representative offices based in key countries of the African continent. Delegations from African nations are expected to take an active part in the 1st International Security Forum, which begins on May 26 and will be held at several venues in the Moscow Region.
The Russia–Africa Summit gives a powerful impetus for the strengthening of comprehensive and equitable cooperation between Russia and African countries in all its dimensions. The first two events of that format were held in 2019 and 2023, in, respectively, Sochi and St. Petersburg. The third summit will take place in the fall of 2026.
"Thanks to the agreements reached during the Russia–Africa Summit and ROSOBORONEXPORT’s vigorous follow-up activities, about 150 contract documents worth over $20 billion have been signed with African countries since 2023. At the same time the special exporter continues to build and expand military-technical and military-technological cooperation with its African partners," - added Alexander Mikheev.
ROSOBORONEXPORT offers its African counterparts the most relevant products for the armed forces and other security agencies – models that are best suited, among all those available on the global market, to address security challenges faced by the continent, as well as to protect its extensive coastlines and vast territorial waters.
The special exporter is developing cooperation with African partners on mutually beneficial terms, offering direct supplies of Russian defence products and assistance in implementing various infrastructure projects. The company is prepared to consider a wide range of industrial cooperation options, including licensed and joint production, development of advanced weapons and military equipment, as well as their modernization, post-sale service and maintenance.
