Thirteen years ago, on November 4, 2000, the Rosoboronexport Federal State Unitary Enterprise – the sole state intermediary agency responsible for export/import of defense-related products – was set up through the merger of two previous state arms exporters, Rosvooruzhenie and Promexport, within the framework of reforming Russia’s system of military-technical cooperation with foreign countries.
On July 1, 2011, the Rosoboronexport holding became part of the Rostec State Corporation and since then has been operating as an open joint stock company.
Rosoboronexport Director General Anatoly Isaykin congratulated the holding’s employees on the foundation day, noting that each employee has contributed to military-technical cooperation with foreign countries, preservation and increase of the best traditions of their predecessors.

Between 2000 and 2013, Rosoboronexport has achieved great results: the export sales of defense-related products in the first year of its existence were US$ 3.1 billion, whereas in 2013 the company has to pass the US$ 13 billion milestone.
Today, the sales geography for Rosoboronexport’s high-tech defense products encompasses more than 70 countries: the company exports 100% of Russia’s final weapons and military equipment and provides more than 80% of all export defense deliveries. Rostec and Rosoboronexport’s representation offices are in operation in fifty countries.
Rosoboronexport is a global market leader in weapons and military equipment, enabling Russia to firmly rank second among largest arms exporters. Prospects for success are ensured by Rosoboronexport’s portfolio of orders which currently stands at over US$ 38 billion.
