Rosoboronexport (part of the Rostec State Corporation) has won first prizes at National Golden Idea Awards 2018 for its contribution to providing information support for Russia’s military-technical cooperation (MTC) with foreign countries and for involvement in military product development.
The first prizes were taken by a Rosoboronexport team for setting up a professional association of journalists, experts and analysts specialized in military-technical cooperation within the Rosoboronexport Press Club, as well as a team of specialists from Russia’s defense industry with the participation of a Rosoboronexport employee for developing the export version of one of the most demanded weapon systems on the world market.
“Above all, the first-prize Golden Idea awards are high praise for performance of our entire company. This reassures us that we have chosen the right path of development. Despite the pressure of Western sanctions, Rosoboronexport, as a key actor in Russia’s military-technical cooperation with foreign countries, keeps promoting domestic high-tech products abroad in an effective and consistent manner. This is done both in the information field and in direct work with foreign customers, by implementing their requests and wishes in the process of export weapon development and production. This has yielded results: the whole world knows that Russian weapons are the best today,” said Rosoboronexport’s Director General Alexander Mikheev.
The annual National Golden Idea Award was established by the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of Russia to facilitate the export of Russian military products, develop and manufacture the newest competitive domestic weapons and military hardware, as well as to enhance military-technical cooperation between Russia and foreign countries.
The awards ceremony was held on December 19, 2018 in the Patriot Expocenter, Russian Ministry of Defense. It was attended by representatives of federal executive bodies, state corporations, members of the award organizing committee and honored guests.
“I’m grateful that the organizing committee of the main National MTC Award appreciated our Press Club, which comprises leading Russian experts and journalists covering complex issues of arms exports. Setting up this informal pool was very important for Rosoboronexport: we’ve got an excellent opportunity to discuss directly any subtleties of our work in the information field and count on complete mutual understanding. We have now a channel with a well-established exchange of information, and most importantly, the opportunity to receive feedback on our activities from professionals, whose daily work is to analyze the global arms market situation and prospects and the role of Russia in it. I am glad that we go hand in hand and support each other in any situations,” said Yury Kaptelkin, Head of the Office of Rosoboronexport’s Director General, who supervises the Press Club.
Within the Press Club, media representatives receive comprehensive information on the status of Russia’s military-technical cooperation with foreign countries, explanations on the specifics of interaction with various countries, including in the context of countering unfair competition and promoting Russian weapons and military equipment in the world market, as well as explanations on the official information disseminated by the Company’s press service.
Press Club meetings are held several times a year as problems and issues requiring shared solutions accumulate, and in various formats, including scheduled meetings, unscheduled thematic briefings, visits to Russian defense enterprises, design bureaus and research institutes that are directly or indirectly involved in Russia’s military-technical cooperation with foreign countries, at Russian and foreign exhibitions.
