Moscow Victory Parade to see dozens of Russian world-class bestsellers
09.05.2019 Press release

Rosoboronexport, a member of Rostec, works ceaselessly to promote Russia's modern weapons in the world arms market. Some of them will end up in the parade to take place in Moscow on May 9 in commemoration of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War in 1941-1945.

“While reminding us of the Great Victory, the parade serves as a demonstration of state-of-the-art equipment, developed by Russia's defense industry. Keeping up with the tradition, dozens of Russian weapons and military equipment will roll out to Red Square, including Uralvagonzavod’s armored vehicles, High Precision Systems’ SAMs, Tecmash’s MLRSs, Russian Helicopters’ aviation systems, etc. Among the most prominent newcomers is the upgraded A-50 flying radar, an airborne command post of the Air Force. Quite a few of Rostec’s products have proved their characteristics in real combat. Considerable interest in our equipment of foreign countries is evident in the ever-growing export,” notes Rostec's head Sergey Chemezov.

Export derivatives of the Russian equipment expected in Red Square on May 9 are also listed in Rosoboronexport's catalog. These include Buk-M2E and Tor-M2E SAM systems, Pantsir-S1 gun and missile AD system, Iskander-E tactical missile system, Msta-S SP howitzer, Smerch multiple-launched rocket systems, numerous wheeled armored vehicles, namely Tigr-M, Typhoon-K and BTR-82A, as well as T-72-class tanks, BMPT tank support vehicle, IL-76MD-90A(E) military transport aircraft, MiG-29M multirole frontline fighter, Su-30SME multirole super-maneuverable fighter, Su-32 fighter-bomber and Su-35 multirole supermaneuverable fighter, Mi-28NE and Ka-52 gunships, and Mi-26T2 heavy transport helicopter.

May 9 will also see the Armata tank, Bumerang personnel carrier, and Kurganets-25 fighting vehicle, all of them boasting a huge export potential. By taking part in the Victory Parade these systems demonstrate to our foreign partners the outstanding level of the latest developments and cutting-edge technologies of Russia’s defense industry.

"Military and technical cooperation between Russia and foreign states has been on the rise. Only in the first four months of 2019 Rosoboronexport delivered abroad $4.9 bln. worth of military equipment, let alone signed new contracts for a total of $5.2 bln.,” reports Alexander Mikheev, Rosoboronexport's Director General. “We owe these to Russian specialists, involved in the military and technical cooperation, and manufacturers, conducting this enormous marketing endeavor, in which demonstrations at parades and exhibitions play by no means the least role.”

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the military parades to take place all over Russia on May 9 will see an aggregate total of 1,600-plus pieces of military equipment. Foreign guests, among them military diplomats and correspondents of leading mass media agencies of the world, will be able to see military systems, not just comprising the backbone of the Russian military but enjoying the status of Russia's bestselling weapons in the world arms market.

In 2019, mock-ups of military equipment exported by Rosoboronexport will also find their way to specialized exhibitions hosted by Russia, namely International Military and Technical Forum ARMY-2019 (June 25-30, Kubinka, Moscow region, rusarmyexpo.ru), International Maritime Defense Show IMDS-2019 (July 10-14, St. Petersburg, navalshow.ru) and MAKS-2019 (August 27 – September 1, Zhukovsky, Moscow region, aviasalon.com).
